How to use social media to network and build relationships.

At first this was the hardest part to connect with people I didn’t know online. I’ve seen so many fake people out there that follow you and the first time they message me it’s a pitch to there business.

The whole idea of social media is to connect and be …well social. Get to know each other first. Ask questions that actually are genuine in wanting to know how they are doing, what are they working on, how long have they been interested in their project..

As a writer looking for followers who might be interested in your book – first you have to look at your book as a product. Does your product solve a problem? Is it entertaining? Who is your targeted audience?

Knowing your targeted audience is key to selling your book. It helps you find where they hang out, what they’re looking for. What their interests are. Find your people you can relate to and share your journey.

You may find you have more in common than you thought!

Sales 101, people will buy from those they like, know and trust. When they like you and trust you – they will buy from you. They will also buy from those who have good reviews. We’ll go over that later.

Knowing you need to learn to connect with others – and you want them to get to know you a little. That comes from sharing your story. Once they know what you’re about, they will like you and trust you. And if they don’t? They’re not your people – not your targeted audience. That’s okay! There are millions of others online!

Which social media platform to work with?

There’s way too many to do them all!! And who would want to? Which one are you comfortable with? Facebook is easy and popular. Tweeter is less about selfies and more intellectual. Pinterest is great to display artful creations of all kinds.

One thing is clear. Pick one or two that you are comfortable using and learn everything you need to make it work for you. Focus your time and energy into connecting with your people and share your story, and help others and invite them to read your work.

After your reader has read your book, ask for a review! Reviews are powerful tools to gain more followers and buyers!
